An Italian restaurant near the Las Vegas Strip is suing Formula 1 and the Grand Prix, claiming the race has cost the business “millions of dollars” in lost revenue.
Ferraro’s Ristorante, located near the famous Bellagio Fountains and hotel, alleges that “the restaurant has lost thousands of customers and millions of dollars, and these losses will only increase as the political and corporate machine behind F1 continues to push ahead with the annual F1 race despite opposition and significant disruption to local Las Vegas businesses,” according to court documents filed in Clark County District Court.
The Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix is set to take place along the world-famous strip for the first time in 2023. There was about nine months of preparation before the race, which was won by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
Preparations for this year’s race, which will take place on November 21-23, have been going smoothly, with the restaurant claiming that the Flamingo and Koval bridges have been blocking traffic for months and preventing employees from getting to work on time.
The lawsuit is not aimed at stopping the upcoming race, although it seeks damages for the unprecedented disruption caused by the closure of the Las Vegas Strip.
However, this is the third lawsuit filed by a local business against LVGP, the other two being Stage Door Casino and Battista’s Hole in the Wall restaurant.
