Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Johnson will both be in the FOX studio this Sunday, in a major shake-up for the broadcaster.
The final round of regular season fixtures all take place over the weekend, and NFL fans across the country will be eagerly anticipating kick-off come Saturday and Sunday night. The FOX NFL Sunday broadcast will kick off as per usual at noon on Sunday, before the play-offs begin next week.
And now, TV chiefs have confirmed the line-up for this weekend – and it features two analysts that are rarely seen together in the studio. Gronkowski has been the typical replacement for Johnson on a rotational basis throughout the season.
However, this week the pair will both be on the show, alongside host Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Jay Glazer. On the NFL Kick-off show, Charissa Thompson will be joined by Michael Vick, Charles Woodson, Julian Edelman and Peter Schrager.
The FOX panel has been a great watch this season, with plenty of good and bad analysis, jokes and perfect predictions from all the analysts. Earlier this season, Bradshaw ended up as the butt of the joke after having a dig at fellow presenter Gronk.
The panel were discussing the Detriot Lions’ 52-6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, when Bradshaw said: “The guy whose seat you’re sitting in right now, filling in for, Jimmy Johnson.”
However, Strahan interjected and defended the ex-New England Patriots tight end, as he said: “He’s not filling in, he’s here all the time.” Gronk also replied: “Wow, yeah, I’m part of the show Terry.”
The 76-year-old saw the error of his ways, and apologised to Gronk, claiming he had just made a mistake with what he said. Bradshaw added: “Okay I made a mistake. All right, I apologize, Gronk you know I love you.”
Week 18 kicks off with the Baltimore Ravens versus the Cleveland Browns on Saturday night at 9:30pm, before a whole host of games kick off at 1pm on Sunday, January 5.
